What would a list of quotes be without some Dumbledore?
I admit that I often have problems focusing too much on what I want to happen or what I want to accomplish and not doing anything to make those things happen. I lose myself in the future and forget to exist in the present, and then the things I was dreaming about never become reality. I’ve been pushing myself to do less dreaming and more living lately, and it’s incredibly rewarding, but it’s still hard to go from thinking to doing sometimes.
I find that it helps when I have others pushing me to succeed. I started this blog to get me out of an anxiety/depression funk because it was affecting my personal relationships, and those who were affected made it known that a change was needed. I focused harder on my schooling and obtained two Bachelor’s degrees when I graduated because I had teachers who were tough graders and knew I could do better. I became a published author because it was a requirement for my writing class to submit a story for publication. And I’m glad for all of that, because now I’ve accomplished so many things that I’m proud of, and I know that I can accomplish more in the future.
(A note on the writing portion: I recently found a website that sends weekly prompts and rewards the best story with $50 and a featured spot on their blog. There are also other writing contests you can enter on the site. It does wonders for motivation, so if you’re a writer and you’re interested in checking it out, the website is called Reedsy.)
