Weekly Wrap-Up

Weekly Wrap-Up #2

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things you’ve received, and share news about what is coming up for the week on your blog.

— Life Updates —

This week has been far less eventful than the last. As of yesterday, I finally started feeling better after two full weeks of an intense sickness. Lesson learned: don’t go outside for long periods of time in really bad storms with hurricane level winds. (For those who missed it, I had left a concert and had to run back to my car in that insanity, and I paid for it, big time). I’m still not 100%, but I was finally able to get a decent night’s sleep last night, so I’m pretty excited about that!

I was also cheered up by some book mail I got yesterday! The wonderful Dania over at Bookish Thoughts sent me an early birthday present, and because I’m super impatient and also just really needed something to cheer me up after dealing with this never-ending sickness and other general life crappiness, I opened it early. And this is what she sent me!

I haven’t heard of this series before (Legend is the first in the series), but according to the synopsis, it’s a sort of YA retelling of Les Miserables. I started reading it yesterday, and I’m liking it so far! It’s got those dystopian vibes that I love, and the story is told from two different PoVs, which I also love. I’ll be posting a review when I finish it! And thank you thank you thank you to Dania for sending it to me. If you’re not following her, you should be! She’s super nice and super wonderful and has a super great blog ❤

Ugh, I didn’t get anything done in terms of blogging this week. That sickness I mentioned? Yeah, it got a million times worse after last week’s wrap-up, so I spent most of the week lying on the couch in misery, watching so many episodes of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee on Netflix and a lot of Paul Rudd/Jason Segel movies. They make for good cheer-up material!

I did one ARC review… mostly because it was a super quick read and I just did not feel up to tackling anything more than that.

If I keep doing these weekly wrap-ups, you guys are quickly going to realize how long it takes me to finish books sometimes. And how often I start reading other books before finishing the ones I’m on. IT’S NOT MY FAULT! I just… need a lot of stimuli? Idk, haha. Anyway, these are the books I’m currently reading:

Terminal Core by Lynn Steigleder — Still working my way through this one… slowly. Not cause it’s not good. It’s just not a genre I’d usually read, and I’ll be honest, I’m having trouble motivating myself to pick it up because of the western factor, even if it is set in a sci-fi world. It might take me a bit to get through it, but it’ll get read eventually!

Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach — I’ve been wanting to read this one for ages. I’m only a couple chapters in, but it’s super interesting so far! It’s probably not for the faint of heart (I’m totally gonna have nightmares of dead bodies and decapitated heads at some point), but it’s a really neat insight into the world of human cadavers. I’m taking my time with this one, though. Why? …Honestly, cause it starts freaking me out if I read too much of it at once, lol.

Legend by Marie Lu — The book I mentioned at the start of this post! A YA dystopian novel about Day, the country’s most wanted criminal, and June, a military prodigy out to avenge her brother’s death. It seems like it’s going to be a pretty quick read, so I hope to have a review up in the next few days.

How was your week, lovely followers?
What’s one exciting thing that happened?

  2. Stiff sound super cool! And glad you are finally feeling better – and thankfully it has happened before your party in a couple weeks!!!

  3. Yaaaayyyy can’t wait for you to start reading it (I think I’ve said this like 200 times over the past 24 hours but I’m so excited because I love the series so much??? but no pressure!)

  4. I hope you feel 100% very soon! Being sick is the worst especially with warmer weather coming because it just perpetuates the bacteria. Also, I love comedians in cars getting coffee and Paul Rudd!! Two of my favorite things!

Take your time reading the books, ya know? Enjoy them and fall into the wonderful universe. It becomes less fun reading books when you feel like you have too.

    1. Thank you! Ugh, it’s so terrible. Ahh, yay more fans! I’ve been loving watching Comedians in Cars. It’s such a fun show! And Paul Rudd is my faaaave ❤ He always cheers me up when I'm feeling down.

Exactly! I get so stressed trying to finish books in a certain time frame instead of just doing it at my own pace. Even if my own pace is super slow sometimes, lol. Just depends on what life stuff is going on at the time, ya know?
