The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things you’ve received, and share news about what is coming up for the week on your blog.
— Life Updates —
It’s been such a busy week! In last week’s wrap-up, I mentioned a job I was trying to get. Well… I got it! I got the official offer on Monday, and I started work on Tuesday! I’m absolutely loving it. It’s a work-from-home position for an online company that does graphic design and writing jobs (blog posts, case studies, etc.) for other companies/websites. Right now, we’ve got a bunch of projects in the works for Facebook. Facebook! How crazy is that?! Since I’m still learning the ropes, I’ve just been helping out with editing and proofreading for now, but eventually I’ll be doing writing jobs as well. It’s honestly like my dream job. Obviously I love writing, and I also have this weird love for editing and proofreading as well. I have no idea why, and I know it doesn’t make sense, but I just love catching and correcting errors. So. Yeah. Dream job. And the rest of the team is absolutely wonderful and so, so nice and helpful. I can’t believe I actually landed this job, and I couldn’t be happier 😀
It was also my birthday on Thursday! 🎉🎂🎁 I had to work for part of the day, but I honestly didn’t mind cause I’m just so obsessed with my job right now. After work, my bf took me out for dinner at one of our favorite Italian restaurants, and we had a pretty relaxed night afterwards. We ended up just hanging out and watching the new Jumanji (uggggh, Karen Gillan ❤️), and it was absolutely perfect.
Yesterday, a bunch of family on my dad’s side was in town, so we had a really great visit with all of them, and then we came back home and had my birthday party with some of my best friends! Cody (my bf) grilled some incredible hamburgers and BBQ chicken for us, and one of my friends helped me bake a homemade pineapple upside down cake (my favorite), and it was just a really great day!
I had such a great time, and I got to see a lot of friends I haven’t seen in a while. I got some great bookish gifts, including an adorable magnetic Ron Weasley bookmark and a gift card to my favorite local used book store. It was just a really great night altogether, and today I am so pooped! It’s been a perfect lazy Sunday. It’s been raining on and off all day, and it’s been cool enough to keep the windows open but calm enough to make for perfect napping weather. Cody and the cats are getting their naps in now (I had mine earlier), and I just paused a great reading session to come write this post.
— Book Reviews —
Haaaaa, I’ve been slacking so hard in the book review department. I’m aware of how ridiculous that is considering this is a book blog. I’m so sorry, guys! I’m hoping this week brings more book reviews. I just keep starting new books before I finish the ones I’m on! It’s a problem, I know.
— Weekly Posts —
This was the first week where I didn’t do any weekly posts. Again, it was super busy with my new job and my birthday, so I hope you guys can forgive me! I also realized I’m not having as much fun with the weekly posts. I still love doing the Book Blogger Hop, but I’m not as into doing the Top Ten Tuesday posts anymore. I’m considering cutting that one out, but I’d like to replace it with other weekly posts. And that’s where you guys come in. What are your favorite weekly posts? Do you participate in any fun ones? Let me know, cause I’m looking for more to join in on!

— Current Reads —
Last week, I mentioned that I had started reading Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut. Well. That didn’t last very long. I remember liking it the first time I read it in high school, but I don’t know, maybe my tastes have changed, because I just wasn’t feeling it this time around. I tried to keep going to see if I’d like it any more later on in the book, but I ended up putting it down, to be picked up again at a later date, or not. Who knows.
Instead, I’ve been reading Milkweed by Jerry Spinelli, and I’m liking this one a lot better. It’s about a boy living in Nazi-occupied Poland during WWII. I love reading books set during WWII, and this one is certainly not disappointing.
I’m not expecting this one to take me too long to read, so hopefully I’ll get a review up soon. I promise more reviews will come! Things are a lot better and I’m a lot less stressed out now that I’ve got a job (being broke really doesn’t help with anxiety), so I’ve been having a stronger desire to just relax and read more lately. Especially since I spend 8 hours on the computer working now, I like to give my eyes a break from the screen. So let the reading commence!
